Our partner, specializing in the supply of cutting tools, approached us with a problem faced by their key client—a large multi-facility enterprise. The client required a system to collect tools after use, monitor their condition, manage regeneration, and optimize costs while adapting to intensive usage and a three-shift work system.

The client struggled with lifecycle management of tools. The lack of a system for effective returns and registration of technical condition caused inefficiencies and hindered tool regeneration. They needed a solution to minimize losses, optimize costs, and provide complete control over the tool usage process.

Needs Identification and Proposed Solution

We proposed a system consisting of:

  • D810 Master PRO vending machine, acting as the central tool management hub.
  • Three D810 OEM vending machines, automating the issuance and return of tools.

Adapting to the Existing Infrastructure

The solution introduced enabled tool returns with assigned labels, ensuring full control over their condition and usage:

  • Monitoring the number of uses: Recording the number of tool usage cycles.
  • Tool condition identification: Distinguishing between worn-out tools requiring removal from use and those scheduled for regeneration, enabling efficient servicing and reintegration.
  • Returns between shifts: Allowing tools to be reassigned to another worker, ensuring workflow continuity in the shift system.

Testing and Implementation of the Solution

The system was tailored to meet the client’s requirements, supporting their operations in the most cost-effective way. After approval, the vending machines were fully implemented.
